It was the coldest weekend in over 60 years for Austin but the action was hot inside the Expo Center. Friday night started out with Jordan Nelson in Midnight Madness taking the win in the two wheel drive class. The modified tractors were split into three classes, Pete Riola on the Hard 2 Handle machine took first in the single engine modifieds. In the twin and triple modifieds it was Cotton Candy and Cameron Neaves taking top honors and in the 9,000 horsepower grudge match it was the Texas Bullwhip and Donald Nelson taking home the trophy. In Monster Truck action it was David Brown in Monster Patrol that took the racing down. Devin Jones in the Barbarian won both the wheelie contest and freestyle. Jordan in the Ice truck rolled it over duing freestyle to take a close second in the competition. Saturday night's action was even better. Robert Zajicek got the 2WD win, but it was Kenneth Popham at the age of 73 taking 2nd place that impressed the fans. Kenneth still has what it takes to get down the track! The modified tractors were split up again and it was Kevin Olney in the beautiful Burning Money tractor that topped the single engine class. Brady Marrow in the Texas Thunder smoked the field with his Allison in the 2 and 3 engine class and The Joker driven by Shawn Swearengin all the way from Kansas City blew it 25 feet out the gate to take the top honors in the 4 engine class. The track was good and the pulling was even better! Not to be outdone by Monster Patrol again, Devin Jones in the Barbarian stepped up his game and took the wins in all three competitions, racing, wheelie contest and freestyle. Congratulations to all the winners in Austin! |
